A look at our day: Landing at Anzac Cove

Today we focussed our writing on the landing at Anzac Cove.

We watched a documentary and recorded our responses in groups using a Y chart discussing what it would have SOUNDED LIKE - LOOKED LIKE - FELT LIKE.

We used this to generate a word web to help us plan our writing. Students were asked to write a response to what they had seen and learnt about the landing,  from the perspective of the soldiers.

Now the creative work began...

Here is a poem Luke wrote:

Guilty when leaving injured friends
Impossible to swim underwater with packs
Paralysed by extreme fear
Aussies fighting alongside us
Loss of friends and family
Life wasted in war
Overcome by loneliness and pain
Loved people dying
I wish I never had to go to war

Luke we liked how you described the situtation it sounded like real life. You used interesting words like paralysed. I wouldn't like to experience what they went through and have to go to war.
